Say What?!? Alaska!!

Here it is - Alaska!  I bet it's been so long you've forgotten that we went.  It seems like a lifetime ago.  I would love to report back all the funny stories and crazy things that went on with two littles but honestly, I no longer remember!  And that could be true even if it happened yesterday.  I do recall the night before we left our plane reservations got changed.  Then our hotel reservations got cancelled.  And then the airline lost the Prince's car seat.  Why do they always lose the one thing you can't do without?  It's like the baggage handlers have a game of 'what will they do when ABC (insert object of choice) winds up in Indianapolis?'.  Very funny wise guys, very funny.  But all went well once we got in to the rented car with the borrowed car seat and were on our way!  Loved Juneau.  LOVED.  Can't wait to go back.

Lots of looking at creatures - wasn't much of a fan of the bear.

How most of my photos I tried to take ended up looking like.

Best form of entertainment ever for the Monkey.  We rode this thing for a day and a half!  She loved it.  Too bad we didn't take advantage of the day it was free as part of the conference.  Noooo, we had to ride it a million times the day we had to pay for it.

Went on a whale watching excursion.  Tons of whales out.  We've gotten really lucky every time we've gone whale watching.  Apparently I have the whale karma (it's all me, everyone knows that).

Hey!  The Prince was with us!

Tried taking a family photo at Denali...didn't really work but it's one of the few we have.  Sold!

And finally the plane rides.  Gotta say, the little Prince has done really well so far.  Aannnnd...way to make sure that never happens again mom!  I love the pic of them sitting together crammed between the two of us.  Family's gotta love!

And finally, I leave you with some Alaskan humor.  Those darn puffins!

PS...exciting news...I should be getting a new phone this week so I can go back to snapping pictures again!  YAY!!

iPhone Drama

My iPhone is out of storage space.  This has made it hard to take any new pictures, hence post any blogs.  Yes, I have a real camera.  No, it does not dawn on me to use it.  Ah, technology, how you waste away my brain from functioning without you.  Maybe I need to disconnect from my phone for a while and remember how to live life sans the lifeline.  I'm pretty sure I'd survive and be surprised by all the time I have and how much fun it is to be creative in other ways.  In the meantime, I am working on cleaning up my phone (apparently 2,500 pictures is the max the phone will hold) and figuring out settings so that every single item I have and the hubby has - apps, pictures, etc - doesn't get loaded back on every time it backs up.  Can I put together a lovely room?  Yep.  Can I paint a canvas?  Yep.  Can I remember every word to that song from the 80's?  Yep.  Can I figure out technology?  H to the E to the DOUBLE HOCKEY STICKS no.

Here are a few pictures I have managed to load on to my phone.  Maybe I will pull out my real camera, download the Alaska pictures finally and get all crazy with it.  Watch out, sheit is about to get real people.

Budding artist

Anyone who knows the monkey knows she loves to draw.  She eats, breathes, and sleeps anything to do with art.  Cover herself entirely in paint?  Best day ever.  Give her an unlimited paper supply and crayons?  Busy for hours.  In the last month or so her drawing has become much more intentional than the initial scribbles.  There are flowers, bugs, letters, people, helicopters and even dinosaurs.  It's kinda cool to see.

The other night her and daddy were drawing on the chalkboard wall and she was watching him draw and copying.

Ah, young bug love. I like how they're holding hands.

Our family at the lake or playing in an apple.  Not sure which.  And yes, that is my phone and fingers in the picture.  My photography career is going strong!

S and H (what would the plurals be?  Thank gawd I'm not homeschooling them)

Weekend Glimpses and then some...

Wow.  How many times can I say I am going to start keeping up with posts?  Obviously enough to not say that again here.  I may be thinking something along those lines...but I'm not saying it.  Oddly summer has flown by.  And I say that because within the premise of each day it seems to be in sllloooooooww mmmmoooootttttiiiiooon.  I go to bed each night thinking I never thought the day would end but here we are with summer almost over.  What has been going on in this time I don't have any idea.  Apparently a black hole (or perhaps wine bottle?!?) shows up every night to erase from my mind the daily activities.  Thank gawd for the camera on my iPhone or else I really honestly would have no recollections at all.  School starts for the Monkey in 2 weeks!  2 weeks!!  Oh, the things I need to do!  Like learning how to plan out and pack a lunch.  Apparently you need an MBA for that one because it is so beyond me.  So, in an effort to postpone all that needs to be done, here's what we've been up to lately.

There's been lots of eating...

Playing happens a lot too...

There's been swimming...

The Prince went to his first M's game...

And then there was general cuteness going on as well...
