Strawberries!

We decided to plant an urban garden a couple weeks back even though we are now in suburban hell strip mall heaven.  The yard is still small and didn't really have anywhere to plant a real garden.  Although the neighbor did tell me the previous owners parked their RV on the lot next door which leads me to the logical conclusion that we should mow down all the knee high weeds and use it for our garden oasis.  Duh.  In the meantime, our small little container garden is growing like crazy (except the peas, which the man in the store said was the easiest and fasted growing?!?).  And the monkey is a great little gardener.

Planting tomatoes and zucchini

Not sure what is going on with that hair.  Apparently she was working very hard.
Now on to the strawberries!  We had our first couple strawberries turn red and they are perfect monkey size!
Searching for the berries in a swimsuit cover up and leopard booties.  Obviously.
I found one!

Perfect!

Look mommy!
Can I eat them already?

Memorial Day Weekend Continued...

Sorry about the delay in posting the rest of the weekend!  I was having issues with the pictures which seems to have ironed itself out.  I swear, me + computers = epic failure.  My superstar karma waves just messes with those computer chips.  Yep, I'm sticking with it.  Now on to the weekend...

The rest of our Memorial Day weekend was spent pretty low key.  The prince came down with a fever Saturday afternoon so any big plans (if there were any) got scratched.  We basically just spent some family time together eating, running errands and out and about.

Looking at the train tracks and lake
Throwing "money (insert sweet 3yo voice)" in to the fountain
Then a small feat of miracle proportions happened - the prince out ate the monkey.  The audible gasps traveling the globe right now is from those who know the monkey and continue to be impressed and amazed at how much food that girl can put in her body.  Meet the monkey's match.  The two can out eat Hercules.  Seriously.

Double fisting a veggie burger.  This is what was remaining of half a burger.  And yes, he did finish it.

"Where has this little orange stick of deliciousness been my whole life?!?"
And to the ever popular activity of playing in the water, aka bath time.  Which basically means prince filling up the container with water and dumping it outside of the tub and monkey and prince fighting over bath toys.  Hey, at least they're clean.  For 10 minutes.  Maybe.

Memorial Day Weekend Happenings

Happy Memorial Day Weekend!  Just a few snapshots from the weekend so far.
Crafts which include a sun hat on a day in the 50s and raining.  I mean really, what about this says not to wear said sun hat??
While Monkey was busy crafting, the prince was busy destroying the play kitchen.  A favorite activity these days followed by double fisted crawling with the groceries.
We tried on some hats at Banana.  Monkey really liked the bottom hat and asked me to 'go home and get her piggy bank then come back' so she could buy it.  Apparently I need to teach her about the realities of good taste.  Such a burden baby girl, such a burden.

Couple outfits of the day.  Outfits of the same day.  And yes, yes that is a swimsuit on the outside of her clothes along with gloves and a hat and sandals.  In her defense it has been sunny and hot then suddenly rainy and cold.  Can't blame the girl for being confused.  Not pictured: first outfit of ice cream tee & sweats followed by Arizona cheer outfit, just pants no shirt, above pants but with long sleeve tee, lamb tee and cropped pants, pjs, and swimsuit and cover up.  Yes, she is only awake for 12 hours a day.  The girl is bizzzz-zy.
Played a long game of game of chase and peekaboo around the kitchen island with the prince.  The dude is fast and has some moves such as the sneak up reverse.  He's tricky.

Then we played the ever famous game of you have a sock on your head, this head?, I'm gonna eat the sock.  Repeat by about four thousand.  Good times.
I also started a new piece 'No Tan Lines'.  Really crappy photo and I just started it so stay tuned for the finished and appropriately photographed finale.

The little Prince turns 1!

I can't believe this little guy is already 1!  1 plus some change at this point, but such is life with a monkey and a prince.
Oh so cute, if I do say so myself!  How I miss that little baby stage.  You know, the one where they can't crawl around with crayon in hand only to use the kitchen floor as their personal sketch pad?  Well, now this is little prince today.  Yes, you see it right, my little dark haired baby is a blondie.  Make that super blondie.

For his first birthday we made baked banana donuts instead of cake...they were a hit.  Then opened presents from grandpa.  Then ate more donuts.
My favorite picture ever.  Hello future rock star.  Tell me you can't picture a guitar in hand and mic in front of him.  Yes, I thought you could picture it.
Second favorite picture.  Watching the monkey play out in the rain.  I realize you were born in Oregon but mommy wasn't and cold and rain plus baby on wet grass don't mix in my world.  Sorry.
Hamming it up for the camera.
Bad hair plus a good strawberry.  And sun, hence actually being outside.
And to today.  Yes, that is my little one year old baby sitting in a chair at a table drinking out of a glass.  Tear.

Weekend Rambles

Sad to say, but my first post to this blog is a little boring.  It was a low key weekend with the hubbie not feeling the greatest and the little prince teething.  Needless to say, with four top teeth all coming in at the same time, things are touch and go with the little man.  I'm pretty sure no one in the house has slept for the past week and an extraordinary amount of coffee has been consumed by moi.  On Sunday, the little monkey decided the perfect morning activity would be to get completely naked and cover herself with homemade slime from the night before (courtesy of date night from the gym, not me.  No homemade slime being made here for the exact reasons to follow).  Said slime didn't really hold together all that well and was sticking to her entire body as well as hair, furniture and anything else it touched.  Gulp down more coffee and off to Dozer Days we went!  Unfortunately we got there 30 minutes before closing and at $28 to get in, little prince and I were off to the giant sand box to waste time until daddy & monkey came back out.  I'm pretty sure I'm still finding sand in my shoes but as evidenced below, the little monkey had a grand ole time.  She was dressed as a construction worker and had her hat in hand as she headed off to school this morning.
